Traditional Literature... Which would be traditional stories are stories that are from the perspective of a culture. They usually contain oral tradition, values, morals of the culture, preserve significant events, explore the human consciences and keep readers entertained.
A series of books written by Esther Friesner are pretty close to Traditional Literature, but the audience would be for young adult readers. The stories based off of Helen of Troy before she became "The face that launched a Thousand Ships".. Friesner, uses factual accounts of Sparta, Troy and events that took place, while weaving a story of the young Helen.
