This chapter talks about how students comprehend, every student comes of course from different backgrounds and assuming that your student has been taught something or that they should obviously know what it is because lets say they live in Texas, doesn't mean they do. As a teacher remembering that students may not be automatically familiar with things you think they should be a good way to start, on the road to becoming a better teacher. A good idea to see what your students know maybe to ask probing questions like if you are talking about the Alamo, ask if anyone as been, or if they know what it is. This will help you get a feel for the way to present the material you are planning to present.
